What we collect, what we don't, and what you can do about it.

Information you send us. If you email the editorial desk, we receive your email address, the message body, and any attachments. We keep that correspondence only as long as it is needed to act on it.

Information collected automatically. Like every web service, our hosting platform records basic request logs (timestamp, IP address truncated to the network boundary, requested path, and response code). These logs are rotated regularly and used only to keep the site online and to detect abuse.

Cookies. The site sets only a small number of functional cookies (such as the optional dark-mode preference). We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

• Precise geolocation data beyond country-level IP geolocation.
• Device fingerprinting characteristics (canvas, fonts, GPU, battery).
• Cross-site identifiers built from third-party cookies, pixels, or SDKs.
• Sensitive categories of personal data (health, political opinion, religion, sexual orientation) — ever.
• Data from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has submitted personal data to us, contact legal@trends.local and we will delete it.

• To respond. When you write to us, we use your message to answer you. That is the entire purpose.
• To keep the site up. Request logs help us spot outages and abuse.
• To improve content. Aggregate, non-identifying analytics tell us which guides are still being read and which need updating. We never see what you specifically read; we see totals.
• To comply with the law. If a valid legal request requires it, we preserve the minimum data needed to respond.

Trends does not currently run third-party display advertising. If ad networks are added in the future, this page will be updated before any ad is shown, and the change will be summarized in the page footer for at least thirty days.

Some articles contain affiliate links. When you click one of those links, the merchant may set its own cookie. We disclose affiliate links in linewith the merchant's program rules and applicable consumer-protection lawin the visitor's jurisdiction.

We do not sell or rent reader data. We share information only with the service providers needed to operate the site (hosting, domain registrar, and — if configured — a privacy-friendly analytics provider). Each provider is bound by its own data-handling obligations.

We will disclose information if compelled by a valid legal process. In that case, we will challenge overly broad requests and publish a transparency note at the bottom of this page describing what was disclosed.

• Editorial correspondence: two years from the last exchange, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
• Hosting request logs: rotated on a rolling 30-day window.
• Analytics aggregates: retained for 14 months, then deleted.
• Backups: encrypted, retained for 30 days, then purged.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, port, restrict, or delete personal data we hold about you. You also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority in your country.

To exercise any of these rights, write to legal@trends.local from the address you originally contacted us with. We respond within thirty days. If your request is complex, we will tell you why and how much more time we need.

We will update this page whenever our practices change. The “Last updated” date at the bottom of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes — anything that expands the categories of data we collect or the purposes we use it for — will be announced in the article footer for at least thirty days after they take effect.
