Long weekends in 2027

Long weekendDays off
New Year: Fri 1 to Sun 3 January3 days
Chinese New Year: Sat 6 to Mon 8 February3 days
Good Friday: Fri 26 to Sun 28 March3 days
Hari Raya Haji: Sat 15 to Mon 17 May3 days
National Day: Sat 7 to Mon 9 August3 days

Labour Day and Christmas fall on Saturdays, so they do not create a weekday holiday for most people on a Monday-to-Friday week. Check your employment terms: when a holiday falls on a Saturday, many employees receive another day off or extra pay.

Turning holidays into longer breaks

A few days of annual leave go a long way:

  • Hari Raya Puasa (Wed 10 March): take Thursday and Friday off (2 days) for a five-day break from Wednesday to Sunday. Or take Monday and Tuesday to make it Saturday to Wednesday.
  • Vesak Day (Thu 20 May): take Friday 21 May (1 day) for a four-day weekend.
  • Hari Raya Haji and Vesak together: take Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 May, plus Friday 21 May (3 days), for nine days off from Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 May.
  • Deepavali (Thu 28 October): take Friday 29 October (1 day) for a four-day weekend.
  • New Year: take Monday 28 to Thursday 31 December 2026 for a long break into 2027.

Book travel early for these windows. Flights and hotels around Chinese New Year, the May holidays and school holidays fill fast and cost more. The rules on public holidays

Under Singapore's Employment Act, employees covered by the Act are entitled to paid public holidays:

  • Holiday on a Sunday: the next Monday is a public holiday.
  • Holiday on a Saturday (for those who do not normally work Saturdays): employers must give another day off, or an extra day's salary.
  • Working on a public holiday: employees are entitled to an extra day's salary or a day off in lieu, depending on terms agreed with the employer.

Check your contract and MOM's guidance for your situation.

Before then: Deepavali 2026

The next public holiday is Deepavali on Sunday 8 November 2026, with Monday 9 November as the in-lieu holiday. See our Deepavali 2026 guide.

Key takeaways

  • Singapore has 11 public holidays in 2027, plus an in-lieu day on 8 February.
  • Five holidays create three-day weekends.
  • Three days of leave in May can give nine days off around Hari Raya Haji and Vesak Day.
  • Hari Raya dates may shift with the moon sighting; check MOM before booking.
