The short version
Grand Theft Auto VI is due on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PC version at launch.
It is set in the fictional state of Leonida, Rockstar's version of Florida, including a modern Vice City. The two lead characters are Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval.

Each time, Rockstar said it needed more time to finish the game to its standard. Take-Two has since repeated the 19 November date in its financial guidance and its July 2026 letter to shareholders.

On PC: GTA V came to PC about 18 months after it launched on consoles, and Red Dead Redemption 2 about a year after. A later PC release of GTA 6 is likely, but Rockstar has not confirmed one. Anyone quoting PC system requirements is guessing.
Setting and characters
Leonida is a fictional US state based on Florida. It includes Vice City, Rockstar's take on Miami, which first appeared in GTA: Vice City (2002), along with swamps, keys and small towns.
GTA 6 has two protagonists:
- Lucia Caminos, the first female lead in a mainline GTA game since the series' top-down early days
- Jason Duval, her partner in crime
The trailers frame their story as a modern, Bonnie-and-Clyde-style crime saga.
The trailers
- Trailer 1 (December 2023) introduced Lucia, Vice City and the social-media satire of modern Florida. It set YouTube records for views in 24 hours for a non-music video.
- Trailer 2 (May 2025) introduced Jason and more of Leonida, and Rockstar released screenshots and character profiles on its website at the same time.

As of October 2026, treat any of these as unconfirmed unless Rockstar has announced them:
- A PC version or date
- Final details of GTA Online for GTA 6
- Map size compared with GTA V
- Anything presented as a "leak"

How to get ready
